Hi,
Apologies for lack of knowledge but here goes.
I have an outside supply that goes to a twin switch operating a light and a water feature.
I had to change the conduit position and the old switch which was damaged - now nothing works.
I put a new front on the switch but am confused as to where the ‘loose’ wire going up towards the earth actually goes.
I have tried it in all the connections but no luck.
although the wire is brown taped it does appear to be earth underneath. mains tester indicates the whole thing is live.
Grateful for any advice.
the photo is from the original switch.E4509E94-7D24-4E8D-B64A-F1EDF6CD7953.jpeg

If it has been taped brown it is not likely an earth anymore. Can you show a wider but still clear picture.

Hi, thank you for replying. I took this to give a better view. The ‘ brown ‘ wire was just pointing upwards. It may have become dislodged when the conduit was pulled apart.
