How do folks wire in a PIR controlled light with an over ride? Is it a case of fitting a completely seperate PIR and controlling from two switches .. one permanent live on and off and one to PIR? Any neater switching methods?

Depends on what light you get. Some have an override function so you flick it on, off, then on again quickly to override it. If you had a separate PIR you could use a 3 position switch so you have over ride, PIR mode and off. Some you can change the flex to 4 core and wago the line in the back of the fitting to the LED so you can override it. I haven’t come across many LED floods that utilize a 4core.

As above...…..smallish security floodlights generally have the 'switch twice' override facility and, these days come prewired. Otherwise, it's generally a wire to suit and double switch job.

Thanks for the responses. Just had the internet switched off for a couple of hours due to unruly 14 year old getting stroppy with mates on Fortnight!
Amazing the transformation once they click back in to normal conversation

If it's got terminals inside that you can get like an asd for example, you could wire into the sl terminal from a switch which would over ride it, that said you could just wire the whole thing through a switch and flick it on off 3 times for the same affect.
