Interesting...ill have to see if i can see behind the cupboards backs. Normally theres a cut out from past experience but maybe a lazy cupboard fitter. Ill take a deeper gander.I repaired a rangemaster a few years ago that I couldn’t isolate, pulled it out from its recess and followed the cable to the cooker switch..
It was located behind the kitchen units that had been built over it
i can find or eliminate any fault up to the cooker itself.can have a chance of finding out what the fault is if it's the appliance itself, i'd charge £60 + any materials supplied. if the fault is in the appliance. i may be able to fix, or you may need a more specialist cooker repair eng. can't be more specific than that, i'm afraid. What do you think is wrong and how much would you estimate for a fix?
Hello, My cooker (LOGIK LFTC60W16 oven with grill and 4 hobs had it maybe just over 2 years) stopped working about 2 weeks ago. I found out we have no cooker switch on the kitchen wall so checked the Circuit Breaker box. Everything was on. With no other option I left the cooker MCB switch in the off position and 2 days later I went back and 2 days later and turned it on and the cooker was working again for about 3-5 mins later the cooker lights saying it was on started flickering and it died again. I went back to the circuit breaker turn it off again and back on and it still would not work. I decided to leave the cooker MCB off for a whole week and turned it back on and again the cooker was working! Oven hobs and grill would all get hot. It was on for 10 mins and was fine. I went back a hour later and had it on for 3 mins and it was fine and then went back 2 hours later and again it wouldn’t turn on. Is there any idea of whats broken or in need of repair/replacement?
UPDATE:- Issue is resolved. For those curious of issue I found the cooker switch was hidden behind the cupboard behind the cupboard backing. Turned oven on as the switch still lit up and you could hear sparking and so on. The switch wouldn't press off either so I bought a replacement from screwfix by CrabTree as theirs are apparently the better quality ones. I removed the old switch from the wall and without unscrewing anything inside the LIVE and NEUTRAL mains cables both fell out! The neutral looked fine but the live was crispy with lots of obvious burning marks. I cut this part off to make a fresh live connection and fitted the new switch. Hey presto the cooker is now working fine, the switch isn't making sparking noises and the switch works perfectly.
