Hi there
A customer has asked me to install a new freestanding cooker. I asked them what power it was. They said 0.79Kwh.
I thought they were confused and ask them to send a link. And yes, Curry’s now list power consumption in KWh.
Am I wrong in thinking they have misplaced the decimal and it should be 7.9Kwh ( have they done this on purpose?)
Or am I getting my calcs seriously wrong as it is a double oven with four ceramic hobs??

Yes its not unusual. Its all part of the European enery-saving malarky.
But the actual power requirements are available on maker's websites and documentation. I'd never trust a box-shifter's information.

A 2-2.5kW fan single oven will generally be in the region of 0.8 kWh. Somewhere in the spec will be the power rating of the oven itself

kWh is not a power rating - it's an energy rating, representing how much energy will be used to do a particular job. The power rating is still in kW, representing the consumption of the element while energised. The more thermally efficient the oven for a given element power, the lower willl be the duty cycle (the fraction of time the element is energised). Averaged over many thermostat cycles, this gives a lower average power, so a lower rating in kWh for a fixed cooking cycle relative to the electrical power in kW.
