Hi. I am going to have a solar power system installed and it will include a 13kW battery and a Zappi charger to use with my electric vehicle. The Inverter is spec'd at 3.6kW, which I think is consistent with what the grid will allow. I've been looking into now many solar panels to have and thinking about overclocking (oversizing) relative to the inverter. I've seen that getting solar panels up to 130% of the inverter spec is Ok but above that it may shorten the inverter life. How high should I go in solar panel power? Any and all comments welcome. Thanks.

Anything that begins with an over- is bound to reduce the lifespan of a product. Adding more panels will be a waste as the excess power will not be used and the inverter will trigger an OCP shut off or burn a fuse if the AC load exceeds its maximum rating.
Also, adding more panels won't charge the battery faster if the Vr only allows for say 20A@14V or increase the amount of AC you can pull out of them using an inverter.

If you REALLY need more than 3.6kW get a bigger inverter.

Source?

Been thinking of getting a panel to power some lights DC only with no inverter so I'm also investigating.
