Going to a garage tommorrow were they have just had new LED lights installed.
After a while the photocell overload breaker trips, the photocell is connected to a contacter the RCD protecting the whole circuit never trips.
The light units that have been installed are approx 1/3 of the wattage of the previous lights.
No previous fault regarding tripping have been reported.
The new lights go through a earth leakage test and IR test before they leave production.
Any1 have an idea what it could be?

Should !! , probably a fault in the photo cell or the contactor coil is duff check for water ingress at the fitting to , would be better if we had some more info to mcb to lighting circuit via contactor and RCD or is the photo cell off its own mcb supplying the contactor coil etc

Not been on site yet, so details of mcb's and which circuits are fed from where are unknown but the photocell has its own apparently - owner tells me!!
What install reason could cause the breaker to trip but not the RCD to trip - confusing as when they reset breaker all is fine for an hour or so then it trips again!

sound to me like a shorting problem , this may not cause the RCD to trip ,think about your RCD as a set of scales its perfectly balanced if the balance is offset the RCD will trip some times a short may just trip the MCB and not the RCD , or if the RCD is faulty it will not trip either first thing i would do is check the function of the RCD then check the fitting connections and also see if there is water in the joints for the lights if the RCD is faulty then the joints could arch away if its got water in and the RCD wont trip , its test kit out time im affraid
