Hi guys,

I have a house rewire coming up but I am not Part p registered. I have been working as a subby so I did not need it. I do not want to spend £1000 because of that one job so what can I do?

Thanks!

1/ Pay the fee to Labc or
2/ Register youyrself with a scheme and pay the fee

If you have a registered mate,he could do the unthinkable and test and inspect as it goes along and cheat the system, by notifying the rewire as his work, that is breaking the law, but its the only alternative to the 2 proper routes

or get the registered mate to work with him, maybe in a supervisory role.

What i was doing when i was Part p registered was charging to inspect 1st fix, 2nd fix, and then i did the test and inspection initial verification.
Using the 3 signature forms i signed for the Test and Inspection, and whoever did the design and construction signed for their part.
Rightly or wrongly it covered my costs for the year. The LABC people aren't bothered who does the paperwork as long as it is done.

So for a one off job i would have a ring around local contractors and try find one who is willing to do the same.

Cheers...........Howard
