Hello,

I've got my pat testing cert 2377, Not acutally done a job in pat testing as of yet, because I'm consentrating on my electric side of things. Just out of interest of those who do PAT testing jobs. Whats your opinion of them? Whats the money like? is there a demand from them?

All I know is that PAT testing in my company gets given to the 'numpty' sparks who they need to keep out of the way for fear they may be linked with the company!;) I am not sure it is that lucrative anymore with larger companies running the prices per item through the floor.

Soul destroying...if you find an over rated fuse it's like xmas......especially if you tested before - there are very few exiting repairs to do...almost as tedious as opening and closing plugtops...oh wait....

Hi Luke, its ok if you are between jobs, but to make any money you need to go for hotels or big offices for it to pay. Engineering companies that have site tools is also worth thinking about, they are always damaging cables / plugs etc and you can charge for repairing the tools, plus you can do a combined inspection and test every 3 months.
