Ian Holdham

Hi all,
I am a qualified Electrician in the UK with over 10yrs experience, I'm currently investigating the possibility of a move to Perth, I have family already living there which is a plus for visas etc. There are plenty of jobs being advertised for A qualified electricians which show there pay structure. Can anyone with experience supply me with the pay structure for a supervised electrician while trying to gain their A licence to which I'm told is up to a year. Also how to access a job as a supervised electrician as I'm struggling to find any advertised.

Many thanks,

Ian

You will need to get skills assessed first prior to coming over here. Once you have been skills assessed then you will need to be supervised to get the A licence, this is the hard part! One way is to get a job with a company over here who are prepared to sponsor you! 457 Visa is that route and is only open for 4 years. Once you are employed on 457 after two years you can go for Permanent Residency (PR).
The company should give you a letter confirming your trade quals at that point stating you have been working in that field! This is the cheaper method of getting over here! The other route is applying for PR straight off and sitting your English language tests, trade tests (think AM2 and 4330 lvl 3). This way costs but is the quicker route to getting A licence. When you get here you will then need to find someone willing to employ you in your preferred trade. It isn't an easy process either way. PA Perth is bloody expensive by the way but wages are high! Hope this helps in some way.
Regards a fellow pom!

Cheers for the reply garry, I am currently getting my skills assessed with vetaseess and have put in an application for an independant skills visa, i am waiting for my recognised qualifications and will then continue with my Expression of Interest, i have read that when this is complete i have to wait for an invitation for the desired visa. I know that this is a long and expensive process but im trying to avoid the cost of an agent by doing it alone. We have family in perth that will sponsor our visa and although its expensive there, theres allot of job opportunity. Was trying to budget plan and was wondering what the average wage was for supervised electricians in that area and how do you get a job under that status?

Most qualified sparks out here earn between $79-$99'000 dollars per annum for a basic 38 hour week, that's in Queensland. Although in truth it depends on how many hours you're prepared to put in.
If you can get down the mines then you can as good as double that pay. Try this site that is set up by the federal government, it should give you an idea of minimum rates. https://www.fairwork.gov.au/industr...tion/pay-and-allowances/pages/allowances.aspx
It's not as simple as back in UK for pay awards over here as you will see by the link!
