Discuss periodic test ????? in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

what is the correct order for a periodic test ??
is it different to the order for the initial testing for a new cct.

Periodic:
Continuity
Ring continuity
Insulation resistance
Polarity
Earth electrode resistance
Earth fault loop impedance
RCD (+ functional test)

Initial testing:
Continuity
Ring continuity
Insulation resistance
Site applied insulation
Protection by seperation of circuits
protection by barriers or enclosures provided during erection
insulation of non-conducting floors & walls
Polarity
Earth electrode resistance
earth fault loop impedance
Pfc
RCD (+ functional testing

Initial verifications testing -

Each circuit must be tested in order of sequence as stated in guidance note 3 ( or the above, easyfox's post)

Periodic testing,

the level of testing will depend largerly on what the inspector discovers during the visual inspection.

if any tests show significant different results, then further testing may be required

some times, up to 100% of the installation will need to be tested

there is no set sequence for the testing which may be required, its left to the competent persons carrying out the tests

Periodic Inspection

a minimum of 10% of the installation should be inspected, obviously it could increase if defects are found.

hope that helps regards luke

Pardon? Why wouldnt you do PFC (both of them) on a Periodic? How many householders would actually hand you a copy of the EIC or the previous PIR?

And the same goes for site applied insualtion etc. Down to the inspector. And of course, if you are measuring Zs when you already have R1+R2 and Ze you are in direct contravention of the statutory EAWR's

And if we are going 17th edition, you could possibly add on X2 RCD checks, X5 checks on ALL RCD's (even those above 30mA) - like to see you all do THAT with youre Flukes! And verification of phase sequence for 3 phase, and of course verification of voltage drop using circuit impedence:eek:

if you want to REALLY have fun!:)

Cant wait for the new GN3..........
