Hello,

I want to install a PIR Flood light which overlooks my car and drive.

i have looked at different kinds of LED lights but i'm wondering what power i need?

I don't want a light that is just going to light the area up if someone goes near it... i want it to make it hard for them to see and actually be a security deterrent rather than just a light.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

what about something like this - quite small but fairly powerful - 1600 lumens. And is LED with a PIR

In all the one piece security lighting I've installed recently, the product has been let down by its PIR sensor, and being able to direct the sensor effectively.

If I was doing it, I would want a separate luminaire & good quality sensor. So the light could directed in one axis etc, and the sensor in another.

The larger size for domestic use is 50W. An Ansell Carina 50W (for example) will give about 3700 lumens for a bit over £30. I'm not sure if it's quite the military grade needed, so perhaps you need one of these ... about 10 times more and focussed into 30 degree beam angle. I've not used one, just found it out of interest :) .

My drive is recessed down the side of the house with fences on the left so it wouldn't light up their side I don't think. We'll he is a bit of a pain anyway but he has about 20 small solar panel ones but they are crap... Almost illuminating the way for burgulars if they wanted to walk up his drive. I think I might get one of those steinel sensors and fit it to the light . If the light is too bright it can always go back to amazon as they will accept any return for any reason. Thank you all for your help!
