Please help...at the end of my tether with transformer/Ring

So the cable I purchased never had any insulation on the earth but I suppose I should’ve put some on. Anyway I’m free to do anybody’s electrics now!

It should be flexible cable, mate. That is flat twin and earth….not for plugs.

View attachment 49228 What a load of tosh for a bloody door bell! Get one of these. Had it for over a year with no battery change yet and living out back of house in converted shed so had a good distance on it. Also sets the dogs off nicely so works on all fronts

Ok don’t shoot me but given there is no earth on the transformer nor I’ve seen any other ring transformer pics with an earth I would’ve cut it as there’s nowhere to put it. I just assumed I’d need it at the plug. I’ve read the trans doesn’t need it. Again not saying what I’ve read is accurate.

might i advise you do a couple of practice plug terminations also. i think you know this but that 1st plug wiring was an abortion.

Maybe the OP would be as well to buy a fig8 mains lead, and chop end off ? at least that would be suitable cable and wired ok at plug end, can be had for less than £5 on eBay or Amazon

If we have taught one person how to wire a plug safely, then we should pat ourselves on the back and say well done everybody.

I think one of our other forum members has the lurpak butter guy as his avatar, so youll have to find something else.
