Posible earth or somthing else

Just doing an job, access is an absolute B#ch my rods are getting in a position i cant get to, but i have this Black possibilly 4mm single cable, I'm not sure what it is, could it be an old water bonding cable? If it is, i could tie on to this with no problem and pull my cables through, my voltstick isn't showing its live i cant see where its going

Maybe, ive only ever seen an black earth a couple of times, but its defently going towards where the stop cock is, and pulling it either way doesnt move, Could it be an old vir neutral?

Could be a neutral, but doubtful. If this cable is a VIR single, then it is probably going to be an earth bond of some description. Can you not confirm this at the existing CU or old fuse board?? If this VIR single looks like a 4mm it's probably a 7/036 imperial cable...

Single cables in those days were almost always installed in split conduit systems, but earth cables were almost always bare!! But it may just be, that was the only cable he had available on the cart ...lol!!!

have seen this black bonding cable on old installations. cut it and pull in a thin draw wire with your new bonding cable, just in case.
