RCD for the boiler trips when the hot water light is illuminated.

Have done an RCD test to rule that out which was ok - where would be the best place to start to diagnose?

Cheers.

Maybe a quick call to Potterton Tech support before you start poking about in it just to see if there are any known issues with it???

Then see if there's a water leak on the Diverter Valve causing a short?

Be careful with your I.R testing - there are electronic bit's 'n' pieces in there that may not like it up them!!

suspect anything that the wet-pants has touched.

If it is only tripping when the hot water is on and not when the central heating is on then you can ignore the boiler and concentrate on the tank stat and hot water valves and possibly the programmer because everything else will be operating when the central heating is on.

If it has a hot water light on the boiler then one can only assume it is a combi, but there is not enough info in the OP to know for sure as he could of course be talking about the hot water light on a programmer.

Although I can't recall coming across a suprima combi before.
