Discuss Pricing in Norfolk in the Business Related area at ElectriciansForums.net

It is about relocating couple of lights and installing a new one. I would like to price per job but I don`t know where to start from. It wil only take me 3-4 hours so an hourly rate maybe? I don`t really know how much is reasonable these days.

cool i in wymondham :) that very reasonable lower than what i charge, you dont wanna sell yourself to cheap just to get work as you the one who spent all the time getting training and is the expect not the customer, basically work out what you be happy to live off and work from there (eg £350 per week) and rest put back into business...

£15 an hour!!!!
You need slapping!
JIB rate for an approved electrician is £13.59. That's for someone who's employed.

You need to work out what you need, then compare it with the area.

What do you need to live on per year (drawings from the business)?
What are your overheads per year (what it costs to run your business)?
Allow for tax on your drawings, then add the figures together and divide by the hours you will work per year, remembering to allow for holidays, sickness etc. Then you'll have your hourly rate.

A good rule of thumb to remember is Monday you work for the tax man i.e. 20%.

i go for £20 per hour as a flat rate (in norwich), if the job can be priced instead of hourly i prefer it, just make sure you can have a good idea of whats involved. i got caught couple weeks ago, 14hr day and walk with 150£ customer had moved any furniture out the way!

When pricing you can charge more, because you're not showing your hourly rate ;)

You'd probably struggle to get it depending upon where you are, but it used to be said that when running your own business you should be charging twice that of the going JIB rate. So £13.59 x 2 = £27.18.

Nice money if you can get it!
