im doing a price per point for a change, i get the impression some guys are going by £50 per point is this inc materials? say wall lamps or is it just cable, boxes /sockets?

I would say cable, boxes etc. my price includes basic white accessories like pendants sockets and switches etc. any wall lights metal switches etc are an additional charge

if its a re wire we charge £10 per socket including materials, cable seperate
but for smaller jobs its more

Nobody in their right mind would charge £10 per socket on price per point system so im assuming you mean you charge £10 for a socket faceplate and a backbox PLUS labour and cable etc in which case I'd say you've missed the point of this thread entirely.
