hi all, Please excuse the potential basic question.

I took down a ceiling rose with 2 wires in and a third for the switch live, I’ve now put it back up and have wired it as per instructions having identified the switch live with a multimeter. However the switch now no longer works and is on permenantly but all other lights work in the room with their own switch.

I’m at a loss as to what it could be so any help would be greatly received.

Thanks

I assume by your description you have 3 cables, one of which is a feed and return switchline to the switch, the other 2 cables are L&N IN & out is that correct?

what's the betting that the reading you got on the meter was the resistance of lamps downstream/upstream and not the switch.???

See attached photo, hopefully that helps, can take further photos if needed.

Measurement was in reseatance at lowest setting to measure if there was a circuit. Suggest others if there is a better way to measure.

1. check at switch see whether the cores are red/black or blue/brown/
2. is there another light on the same switch?
3.FFS don't squidge 3 wires into 1 terminal. why do ye think they fitted 3?

You need to turn the power off and disconnect them all. The one which goes to the switch will have continuity between conductors with the switch on and no continuity with it off.
