What's your supply voltage is more importaint.

An what do you mean rated at 440V? As in that's the maximum voltage the starter will take?

For the OP, you also asked about how you should start the Motor, you need to take in lots of variables, mechanical loading for example, starting currents etc many things need to be considered.
 
Dependent on how big the pump is, and how much head pressure it has to overcome is another factor.

May also need soft starting/stopping to avoid "water hammer" in the pump/ pipework valves etc..
 
You will have to run in star. However the voltage is still a bit high.

Would be better with a VSD that you could trim the output to what you require.

I should add, you're starter isn't rated at 440v it's 380 - 415 V.

Yup, you're right, sorry 'bout that, supply voltage's 400V, star indeed.. Thanks mate! Just wanted to confirm before doing it.
