No I don't glue pvc conduit to be honest, especially if it's outside.

I always cut the conduit so that there is a 2-3 mm gap where the conduit ends and the stop lip on the box, this to allow for any expansion in the summer.

I use glue, but it depends on the environment. If i have runs longer than 3m then i allow for expansion. Ive had fittings that you couldnt insert tube into, without lots lubrication. If you have runs with lots of bends, then gluing them shouldnt be a problem, as the bends take the expansion. If you are going to leave room for expansion, then its not a bad idea, to use a bit of vaseline as lubrication, and to stop the conduit from sticking.

I have found that opinions vary on this - one person told me that for short runs, eg less than a metre between boxes it's best not to use glue or cement because it's not going to fall apart and if you have to take it apart again you'll still be able to re-use the boxes. I agree with this.

Someone else told me you always glue/cement plastic conduit, citing a time when 'the boss' had sacked someone on the spot because he hadn't glued some conduit and the whole lot could be pulled apart by hand.
I expect in somewhere like a school/zoo it would be a good idea to glue/cement it because they probably would pull it apart.

Think it all depends on the application... in the roof space of a restuarent where i wired as i went i didn't bother but i will glue say on areas that are likely to pull apart easily. we have all glued tube only to have some bugger change his mind on what he wants and where and ending up cutting it about!
