Quick Question about electrcial Testing?

I have been asked to complete an electrical installation certificate for someone that is renting their property; I’m not currently registered with a competent person’s scheme as i have only recently received the qualifications. I have my part p and 17th Edition and i also have the qualification from City and guilds for inspection and testing.

I don’t have a problem doing the work, what I’m wondering is, am I ok to fill it in and issue to her as I’m not registered?

Do you mean she wants a PIR rather than an EIC?

Yeah sorry a Perodic Inspection Report she is putting her property up for renting through a letting agent so its just to make sure the electrics are ok for general use. no electrical works have been or will be done!

No need to be registered with any scheme to do a PIR. CG2391 is desirable to show you are competent.

you're fine to do a PIR. no problem, no notification as no actual installation work is to be carried out.

you do not need to be in a scheme to do pir`s although competence is the key word. if your competent to do it and have the indemnity insurance in place thats all thats required to undertake the reporting. although depending on the letting agent some are stuck in the Niceic ways and won`t accept one from electricians in other schemes.
