Hi guys one of the new guys here, i was doing some practice testing on a friends house and on the R1+R2 test on a radial power circuit the reading kept climbing slowly, a bad or loose earth ?
cheers for any pointers :)
If you dont ask you dont learn !

Hey

Just in addition to whats been said, how exactly were you linking out R1 to R2?? this may have a bearing on the reading also if you were using a piece of cable for instance.

Cheers.

Hi Guys thanks for your replies,I was linking the circuit at the board with a single piece of 2.5 then using a kewchek adapter at the socket outlet, I shall test a few circuits at home and see if the meter is ok its in for callibration on tuesday anyway.
Cheers

Make yourself a temp link with crock clips on the ends of a single for quick use in linking line/cpc at the board for radials.
Makes life easier

Hi Guys i have traced the fault back to the first socket, the cpc between the cu and the first socket is broken so i need to find the break. The bathroom rad was sup bonded to a socket on this circuit so i guess i got a reading via the water pipe.Does that make sense?
Cheers

Me too its a great way to tap into the years of experience that these guys have and are willing to share !!! Thanks everyone for being willing mentors.

For info, no problem with Sup bonding to a socket to get an earth. It's a common way of bringing R1 R2 down by having as many parallel paths to reduce the resistance.

I am correct ?
