RCBO fitting

Hi guys, ive got some work to do on a domestic lighting circuit and I need to provide RCD protection to the circuit, can I fit an RCBO int the existing insulated consumer unit and issue a minor works certificate or do I need to price for replacing with an 18th edition consumer unit?

If you can fit a compatible rcbo that is fine. There is no such thing as an 18th Ed consumer unit the one in situ should be fine providing it is safe for continued use.

First thing is to find out if you can get an rcbo for the current consumer unit

Thanks guys, yes it’s split load Wylex so easy enough to obtain a new RCBO for it

wylex do a compact RCBO. much more room, but the music's awful. no earth lead and switched N.

Compact rcbos generally do not fit the older NSB boards.

Is there RCD protection in the current board at all?

Just been round to look for myself instead of taking a colleagues word for it. Turns out it’s a Wylex NHRS series dual rcd board so has rcd protection on all circuits. Thanks for all the replies guys
