RCD for car chargers and zappi install

where does every one source there Rcd’s from for car chargers? I know you need the types A etc but where actually has these on the shelf? Or at least next day?

Also has anyone got finished install pics of the zappi charger?

best supplier believe it or not is rolec. any usual wholesaler such as denmans, rexel group and its various names.
Yes they are rebadged chint but they are readily available and reasonably priced. coincidentally fit into chint enclosures! otherwise if you want others i would look at online suppliers.
I have not fitted a zappi unit but they should all have integral rcd protection. if you are protecting the outgoing circuit you can normally feed it off a standard rcbo or mcb/rcd set up. the dc protection is largely done at charger end. depending on method you may still want to rcd protect the supply cable but then have to think about discrimination or selectivity as we have to say now.
i just checked the zappi manual online and it says feed it using a mcb. the charger has integrated rcd protection for the ac and dc protection required.

You have a very good point there I do see rcd not Necessary.
It will be in its own d.b and swa clipped direct. So an mcb should be sufficient.
Depending on Earth arrangement for TT I guess?

We wont get into the debate about pme and whether it is suitable following risk assessment or whether the supply is tns back to the station.
Just put it on a rod and be done with it, if you struggle getting one in, get a ground rod driver off ebay and use the sds. the things go in much easier then! come 18th they will all be on rods anyways.

out of interest, are you in a competent persons scheme? as ev chargers are notifiable to both the dno and building control under the part p criteria.

Yes I’ve done the EV C&G course. My problem is that it’s going next to solar inverters outside that are on the house earthing arrangement. I haven’t got my cop book on me to look it up but I’m sure if there is a different earthing arrangement that can be touched between the car and inverter (which there is) measures need to be taken? What’s your views?

If in doubt, fit an earth rod.. my installation is TT anyway so I don't think it's necessary..
