hi guys ,several pieces of equipment on different circuits on the non rcd side side of a split main/rcd board are tripping the rcd .the mcbs
are not tripping.

any ideas as to why this is happening? could it be crossed neutrals or just a faulty rcd.thanks

disconnect all items on circuits, this may include outside lights, pond pumps etc and then see if rcd trips. aafter doing this start thinking about ir test and faulty rcd.

ps don't leave pump off for too long

Are you sure you've connected the neutrals to the correct bars?

More to the point when was the board last working properly and who's been meddling!

Sounds like a crossed neutral to me but I don't understand why it should start all of a sudden or is it a new installation?????

Have you just started using an immersion heater perhaps?

Has the client wire up any plugs?
I had a situation where the RCD kept tripping and the microwave plug had been wired neutral to earth, earth to neutral.
Thought at first that the circuit cable had been damaged.

Just to confirm do you mean that the circuits on the non-rcd side are tripping the RCD??

I take you have isolated the MCBs on the RCD side and still getting tripping there - you could have a low resistance on the N/E of the RCD side - try an IR test N/E on the RCD side then look for borrowed neutrals as that could also trip the RCD.

Also when did this start?? what happened? is it a new build/rewire/new cu??? All these would point to the CU not being wired correctly.

Also what state is CU in?? (the wires)
