rcd tripping

I recently got called to a rcd kitchen circuit tripping, so I removed all appliances as normal but still tripped so carried out IR test which showed no fault? any ideas no fault found?

Tested the circuit fully and the rcd?

yea IR test no fault

Disconnect the load and reset rcd, if there's no load and it still trips you need a new rcbo! Hope this helps

Sorry just read your reply properly yea carried out all test couldnt find any fault live and dead tests

a ramp test would help.

IR test again at 1000V. but make sure nothing is plugged in.

Yea recently had been rewired not by myself

Well there is a fault then....just because you havent found it doesnt mean it isnt there. Look harder.

trapped cable behind an accessory or a nail in cable.. these faults don't always show uo on IR tests. ambient temperature fluctuations cause expansion and contraction, thus the fault is there 1 minute and gone the next. just a case of using the old eyeballs more than relying on test gear.

Similar to what tel sats You may be looking for 0.0 Meg Ohm on the IR test, they can trip on more, have you got a clamp meter which can measure in mA?

if it's been working up, to now, that can be discounted. i would be looking for pictures hung above sockets before anything else.
