Commercial greenhouse - panel has a 4 pole 40A 300mA rcd feeding 3 x 3phase 16A socket outlets with 25A 30mA rcd's built in. Under 17th edition is this 300mA illegal. Customer wants local RCD's for ease of nuisance trips.

What makes you think it might be 'illegal' ?

Without more information, it's hard to say if the 300mA rcd is required and if it is then the chances are unless it is a time-delayed 'Selective' type, you'll still end up with 2 devices tripping on a fault.

illegal (wrong word) special locations agricutral less than 20A fit 30mA rcd. Panel rcd protecting all cable going out onto metal structure etc. But customer wants exsisting sockets left with local RCD's. get my dillema ?

All circuits must be RCD protected in Agricultural premises.
Circuits that supply socket-outlets not exceeding 32A require up to 30mA.
Those that supply socket-outlets that exceed 32A require up to 100mA.
All other circuits, lighting distribution etc. require up to 300mA.
This information is contained in Section 705 of BS7671.
You can use lower rated RCDs than the maximum specified in BS7671, but that won't help stop nuisance tripping.
Do better finding and rectifying the fault that is causing the nuisance tripping.
