Hi people,

Can any tell me what would make an RCD take a long time to disconnect, i understand they monitor the line and netural wires but what would make them take a long time to disconnect or not even trip when testing.

Many Thanks.

faulty RCD or, if the test button has not been preseed for a long time, might get stuck.

What if they were brand new and there was two! lol they have been installed in an old house. they have updated the distrubution board all works fine but when i tested the RCD's i get a reading of >400ms. and it dosent trip.

try switching all the breakers off then test at the RCD load side terminals
