I don't know where you are but you will by law be required to handle under the rules of WEEE. There are many firms who deal with this and you will receive a waste transfer certificate showing your compliance with WEEE when you do dispose of it this way. Alternatively you can go to your local tip and recycle it there as electrical waste. Depends if you are commercial or not. If commercial you will ordinarily have a massive amount of waste such as old fluors, sockets, switches, tubes and DBs' and it will be added to the cost of the job for disposal costs, a couple of switches maybe not.
