Hello,

I'm trying to build a 12v circuit where a npn laser sensor activate a pump but I have no idea on how to build it. Its pretty simple but if I hook the laser to the circuit it looks like there's not enough current passing through to power the pump. So I think I would need a relay right? I'm a total noob when it comes to electrical issues :(

Thank you in advance!

Yes, it looks like the sensor switching capability is probably well under the pump's requirements, so you will probably need a relay. How much current does the pump draw?

Hello!

I have to check but it's a car water pump so I would assume it's a 12v pump.

It will be 12V, but you will need a relay because of the current it takes. I would hazard a guess at least a couple of amps. More than the sensor can safely switch anyway.
