Had a call from an office to check some faulty lights, and having not done a lot of work on high frequency panel lights, I just wanted to see what people's thoughts are.
The tube is flickering, replaced the tube, same problem, so must be the ballast. Just wondered whether people just replace the ballasts, or is it easier to to replace the whole unit?
Thanks in advance

had same problem recently. ballast cost £53. complete new fitting £48. no brainer.

I would think it would depend on whether the fitting was a standard or an emergency unit, and if the latter is it a combined control gear or split between emergency and non-emergency...Generally these days it is cheaper to just replace the entire fitting, it's also cheaper for you as it is a quicker job with less hassles.

As said if cheaper replace the fitting but on the other hand if there are a number of fittings which are the same changing it may make it look out of place if a different make and model.
