Dark Lightning

Hello,

I've been working on an electrical assignment as part of my training, I have completed most of it but I seem to be falling down on a more simple part of the assignment on the basis of terminology and further explanation, I have found it a little difficult to source the information I need, so if anyone is able and willing to assist me I would greatly appreciate it.

Question:
what is meant by each of the following terms relating to the Consumer’s Control Unit (CCU) located in the garage.

a) Modules.
(What I wrote)
Modules are a device that is part of the system of the CCU, such as an RCD or an RCBO, in a 7 way board there is enough for 5 ways as the main switch usually takes up two ways.

(Teacher says my terminology is not acceptable in this answer, I believe teacher is mostly referring to the second half, tips to improve wording?)

c) Split load.
A number of circuits within a board that are protected by separate RCDs or MCBs on separate circuits.

(Teacher reply "From this explanation are not all board split load boards?" any suggestions on how to better explain?)

Much appreciated if anyone is willing to help me see my errors.
Many thanks.

Comment about split loads sharing the loads and of course how it’s pretty handy to have split the lighting circuits etc

Think about fault conditions and the reasons for split boards

Done this last year, I pretty much just took what was written in my JTL books I got given and wrote it in my own words. End of the day if my answer was wrong so the books should be!

If no one has wrote back up reply with what my JTL books say when I get home from work.

There are many other modules that can go into a CCU. Have a look on one of the manufacturers' web sites and you'll find all sorts. PS you didn't mention the most common module in your reply.

c) he's right. There are lots of MCBs in a CCU and they, by definition, split the load.
I think they are asking more about the, what is now, standard split load arrangement where the CCU is split into sections, each section protected by an RCD and each circuit protected by a separate MCB.

This will give you some hints and food for thought

This is enlightening information, thank you to everyone who wished to help to educate me further.

I have now managed to craft an acceptable answer from the advice given.
