Ring main fault

Need help A property I recently done an EICR on has a fault on the downstairs ring main.
The fault is an open circuit on the r1. To shorten the story I managed to believe the fault is under the floor
and may have possible joint boxes. But the client has sold the property and didn't want to spend
money. So all I done was derated the MCB and changed it RCBO. Is this classed as okay or does anyone have a recommendation to what I should of done

i wouldn't have started the fault finding job unless asked to, just reported it.

for the cost of what you have done, you could have found the fault. always treat the disease, not the symptoms.

If you don't know the answer to that you shouldn't be carrying out EICRs.

YOU are the inspector! YOU should know what code it is!

Your question originally was 'or does anyone have a recommendation to what I should of done', which Tel has answered in post #6. What's wrong with you?

Can you be certain the circuit is 2.5mm everywhere? Unlikely, given what you've said about the probable jb under the floor, so derating to 20A isn't an option.

I'd have a damn good idea!

C1 = Dangerous (someone could die right now)
C2 = Potentially dangerous (potentially could kill someone at some point in the future)
C3 = Improvement recommended (could do with a bit of improvement)

i could interpret BS7671 into swahili, but the meaning's the same. the codes are quite clear. imminent danger - potential danger - requires improvement.
