hi can some please help me out here i have an old robin kts 1610 multifunction tester when i turn it on the display comes on and stays on works ok on continuity and insulation but when i turn the function knob to loop and RCD the display go's out . plus it has had new batteries fitted .
 
and that post is as mich help as an ashtray on a harley. i would suspect the rotary switch contacts are dirty/worn out.

I would suspect there are electronic issues with the tester, maybe it has been dropped or age has finally got to it, I have one of these exact testers myself which I no longer use as it's ten years old, a good tester in it's day for sure it's sat in my office now gaining dust LOL, you could send it to fluke for calibration via your wholesaler and get it a good check out, expect a bill of around 100 I would think for a test and calibration, obviously if they find a problem that will increase.
