Discuss Rod set - worth it? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net
yeh I get it, hahadrawbacks!
They are the ones I carry all the time as 3m when not planned for should be OK in domestic.I've also got a set of these short ones:
330mm Rod Cable Access Kit for Tool Boxes 45275 TCAK | Draper Tools - http://www.drapertools.com/product/45275/330mm-Rod-Cable-Access-Kit-for-Tool-Boxes
Really handy when drilling holes in ceilings when there is lots of insulation above - 7mm hole, push one of these up.... go in loft and check positions before drilling downlight holes...
This talk of nail guns prompts a little safety reminder - your workmate/apprentice is not a recommended nail gun rest ...I like using a nail gun to shoot the cable over suspended ceilings, trouble is the person at the other end sometimes gets it in the head. I was thinking of using a harpoon instead.
I'm wondering whether it's worth investing in a rod set? They seem quite expensive so are they worth it? How often do you use them? Do they work round tight corners? I currently use the old string method which sometimes works great but obviously has it's drawbacks!
