Hi guys

have done a small 3 phase job but know have a change to the job as their is a flat upstairs on it

I have been told I need to fit a ryfield board which will enclose 3 main fuses for the new 3 phase board and 1 fuse for the flat upstairs

can anyone advise as best a cheapest place to purchase one of these boards as it not something I would use everyday

Unfortunately a ryfield board can only be supplied by ryfield engineering and they aren't cheap. You could look at getting an other panel manufacturer to make you up a panel to the same spec.

I think that was my next question

I priced one earlier with higher rated main fuse was near £500 and if I need main fuse rat 60a about £350
the dno has 3 100a main fuses coming in on supply so they say at ryfield they only rate the fuses in box at 60a

would the the power supplier have much to say if I had one made that wasn't direct from ryfield

thanks again

Who is the power supplier as the requirements can vary.

Hi

edf if doing metering and it was the meter guy that came out and stated he needed a ryefield board

the customer got a 3 phase supply into a domestic property to power a 3phase oven and as all cabling comes into my new 3 phase fuse box I just left tails out to meter but beside this there is a new meter being fitted for an upstairs flat which is single phase he stated he can't bring 2 tails out of 1 phase so would need to go through a ryefield board which is something that is certainly going to cost the customer on top of everything else

Who told you that you ''Need'' a Ryefield board, Ahh right, a meter merchant ?? As usual they are talking pants, there are several alternatives to providing power to what is, a single phase sub-main from an existing 3 phase supply...

From his last post it sounds like it's not a submain.
He's got a three phase head to which the meter monkey needs to connect one TP meter and one SP meter.

Round here they just take two tails out of one of the head fuses to feed the sp meter.

My thoughts exactly...
Either way, ...this meter monkey is talking pants...lol!!

I understand guys what yous are saying but to be honest I don't have many dealings with dno suppliers on mainland and if it was where I am from it would be different no ryefield

and yes it was the meter man he wouldn't connect and he told me he was an inspector for edf so I can't really argue but if you guys can advise I am more than willing to challenge it

The DNO don't have meter installers, that work is subbed out to these meter installer companies. Contact the DNO area Engineer and ask him what is acceptable and what's not... A 4 way Ryefield board, for supplying an existing (replaced) 3 phase DB and a new single phase supply to a flat isn't the only way to go, it is probably the most expensive method of doing so though!!!....
