I have just replaced my external bell box with a RESON8. My previous box's battery was swollen and in preference to replacing the battery, I chose to replace the external bell box as it was 15 years +. I don't want to use the back-up battery in the external box as there's not much chance that an intruder will get a ladder in the event of a break-in, and I also don't want to run the risk of the siren going off and me not being able to silence it without getting a ladder.

My question is "Will a RESON8 external bell box work normally with the battery link in the "OFF" positon"?

At the moment I have the whole system connected but with the battery "OFF" jumper, and it sounds the siren when I try to arm the system.

Could this be caused by the battery being disconnected?

Many thanks

John
