This person requires some work. They've hopefully explained their skills and qualifications and what area they're in. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?

if anyone could give me a bit advice or knowledge or just point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it massively. I’m currently looking for any work that could help me get experience but I’m struggling. Almost every job listing requires a minimum of two previous job references in the field.

I’ve applied for loads of electricians mate and some improver jobs but no one seems interested in giving me a go. I have C&G level 2 and 3 electrical installation 8202 and an ECS electrical labourers card. I don’t drive or have 18th edition.

Keep going, keep learning, hang around here and get clued up..

When I started was in same boat, so I moved. I Was driving around dublin in cherry picker changing cameras in the ghettos. When I left that job, i got a lift 5.50 to catch train as no buses, on train for hour, then lifted by boss for another we drive with tools most days to learn kitchen rewires, smoke detectors, and so on..

Not being able to drive will be a big handycap for you so I would suggest you get your driving licence as soon as you can.

Don't waste too much time applying directly to companies because (in my experience) no one will hire a newbie directly. Get yourself registered with as many employment agencies as possible and get onto the sites. Ignore the requirements for experience, you'll get that as a mate once your on site. Don't worry too much about your qualifications because all you will be doing to start with is installing various types of containment. If possible, I would suggest you get an IPAF card for (min) class 3a. My IPAF card has helped me get a lot of work.

If you are a good worker and a fast learner then the opportunities are out there because some of the guys working on the agencies are terrible so it's easy to stand out. I was on the agencies for less than 6 months before proving my abilities and being offered a full time job on the cards so it is possible.

You will need a half decent hand tool kit, an impact driver and combi drill as a minimum. I have worked with guys that turned up to work with just a pair of cutter and a few screwdrivers and none of them have lasted more than a couple of days.

Good luck
