Hi,

Im currently employed and i'm in the process of claiming for my mileage,

I've calculated all my business miles and it works out at 12500. It says i get 40p per mile for under 10k and 25p for the rest. I dont get that do i? I'd nearly have £5000... Im guessing i get the tax that i paid back on £5000? So i'll have a cheque for £1000 ish?

I can claim for work wear(washing them too) and tools right?

Is there anything else i can claim for?

yeah, the 40p/mile is what the taxman allows you for running the vehicle. so its £4000 you don't pay tax on. same thing for the 25p/mile.

you can claim for any parking and congestion charges on top.

claim for insurance on tools if you have it.. sure you can think up a few more.

:baby:If you're self employed you may well benefit from seeking the advice from an accountant, they'll get it all sorted for you! Yes it'll cost you a few quid but you'll get it back year after year once they've outlined what you can claim.

don't think he is self employed. think he's employed but using his own vehicle for his employer's benefit. that makes me wonder if he has business use insurance. as it's not personal business,

Er, yere, employed - anyway as an employee there are some things you can claim.

Mileage rate this year is now 45p for the fist 10K
