Hey guys! First post here

I just came across a broken fan that uses this can of motor to spin the blade, I already tested everything else for faults and it is the motor that is not running.

My question is this, given the simplest type of AC motor, what are the common causes of failure?

The windings inside motors are insulated using a lacquer.
If the motors over heat, the lacquer can melt and the windings can short out.
If the motor over heats too much, the windings themselves can melt.
Common tests are IR, to check that there is no direct short between phases or line and neutral.
Continuity to check that the windings are intact.
Resistance to check for shorts between windings.
