hi
I am removing an electric shower from a room and putting a washing machine in the space instead. am I able to use the shower electric feed to supply a normal double plug socket? I have a level 2 but no practical experience so a little in the dark here?

thanks

Is it a special location once the shower has been removed?

Any RCD protection?

Rating of the circuit OCPD?

Size of conductors?

I need to check what RCD it is on, the whole house was safety checked within the last 12 months so hopefully if the shower was on an incorrect breaker that would have been picked up? i'm assuming the draw on a washing machine isn't going to be greater than an electric shower or am i being a bit naive?

the shower is in a small toilet/utility room, intention is to keep the toilet but knock the shower out and fit a washing machine into the space. all looking to have a single double socket in the room, it's a pretty small space.

i have considered the thickness of the wires and the possibility of them being too thick to wire into the back of a socket, if so is it an option to wire the thicker cable ends into a junction box and have smaller wires coming out the other end to the socket?

It all sounds very Dodgy to me, you need to give more info.

How thick is the cable?

at least give us this info.

I haven't ripped anything out yet so can't say what the thickness is, just planning ahead really before I start making a mess
Well how the heck can you expect us to answer the question without the cable size?

I welcome disagree or dislike on any of my posts. It's all part of the debate.

However it's always nice to get a reason behind it.

So stidge if you would like to give me your reasoning behind the dislike you might get me to change my mind. I do sometimes change my mind mid thread as I like to think I am open minded and willing to accept others opinions can be right.
