Hi Guys, just had a phone call from a mate wants his shower changed, like for like 9.5Kw for 9.5Kw
Is it notifiable?
could it be done on a minor works cert?

cheers for any replys

Like for like is not notifiable but a MWC is in order.

The only thing I'd be careful about is what the instructions say for the new one, i.e. if it says RCD is required then you should consider an EIC.

If there is no rcd definitely get one in their and do a electrical installation certificate! If there is an rcd then just do minor works!

If you are changing the shower for one of the same rating then it is like-for-like and not notifiable as far as I am aware. If you change the circuit/load characteristics in any way in a special location then it is.
Why would you complete a MWC guys? You wouldn't be making any alteration.

There is no mention of 'like-for-like' in the regulations.
A replacement is a replacement.

Also, there is no connection between certification and notification.
Always issue a certificate whether the job is notifiable or not.

Final circuits, exceeding 32A don't require additional protection even though it's in a special location. As long as it's bonded. I personally thought this was a boy gash too. It's just an area the lecturer picked up on when I did my 2391.

But I do always fit an RCD.
