Does any one know, now that they have dumbed down Part P, if you have to register to sign off someone else's work or if you are already a member of a scheme you can just do it. Plus what certificate do you use because if you haven't installed it surely you can't use a EIC. Maybe a EICR?
thanks chaps

Had my elecsa assessment the other week & was told we can EICR 3rd party work strait away , PS ' This is a mugs game unless you are desperate for work .

Well, some would say that's no different to before the 6th April.

What we need to know is how we are supposed to sign off and notify - that said I don't care as I'm not planning to join the sign off brigade

In the Professional Electrician and Installer Part P-The Future page 18 the director general of the ESC says third party notification will not come into effect until October. Not that I'm bothered either as I won't be doing it.

fullyqualified time served people/tradesman cant sign off houses still well to me still a joke but a man off the street can buy a tester a regs book etc apply to napit or who ever n get passed in a day and actually the work the assessor is looking at is in the cowboys own home sumit wrong if you ask me

I won't do it myself, it costs me thousands in insurance, Health and safety schemes buying test kits and the NICEIC etc , why would I want to sign off a DIYers job, never happen, I just won't do it.

Not to be confused with another similar but different ethos thread elsewhere, nor would I. Blokes whinge about the schemes in the first place then end up using them potentially to their downfall and all for a few quid. Crazy!

I've just had an idea.

£100 for the cert for 3rd party sign off PLUS my time to do the work.

5 x 3rd party sign off's per year and that my Elecsa subs covered.
