Signing off work.

Hello,
I’m a qualified electrician (nvq lv3, am2, 2391) who has recently purchased my first home. I’ve completely ripped out and started again and completed all the works to building regs standard however I’ve always worked for a big company so unsure what the process is for signing off your own work. Do I need to sign up to a governing body ie. Napit or niceic or do I have to go through part p? Thanks in advance.

Joining NICEIC or NAPIT for example may be easiest way to gain CPS status. You need to belong to the Competent Persons Scheme to Self Certify and issue Part P notification.

Joining a scam wouldn't be worth it unless you do a lot of notifiable work.
Without being a member of a scam means noiltifying via your local authority building control dept (LABC) and paying their fees. Look on their website for a schedule of fees.
But, you need to do this before you start work. I guess you could apply and start immediately afterwards
At least you shouldn't have a problem supplying all the right paperwork. In the past, I've found my local inspectors to be pragmatic when I've told them "I'll supply an EIC with test results" - they normally expect a scam member to do testing, I have no formal qualifications (apart from experience and a relevant degree !)

If this is a one off job, I'd approach whoever was signing off your work previously, and see if he can be persuaded to sign this one off.
Alternatively, wing it, and submit a professional looking EIC to building control yourself.
