Silent or very quiet pull switch

Got a fussy client who wants a silent or extremely quiet pull switch - any (sensible) suggestions??

The pullswitch in our bathroom is right on the other side of the wall from where my little son sleeps, so once he's in bed we only use the mirror light above the sink. Every pullcord I've seen (and heard!) has been bloody noisy.

You could always mount the pull switch in the loft above with the pull cord through the ceiling .

Not that it helps all that much, but I think the switch is quite quiet - until you screw it to a big lump of plasterboard which acts like a piano's soundboard .....

I've a PIR fitted in mine - it's brilliant.
1) Kids can't leave the light on
2) No dirty hands from lazy kids (can you spot a recurring theme, here?)
3) Completely silent
4) No flipping string getting in the way
5) Bit of tech always impresses.

Mine is mounted right next to the CU,all it took was 110 meters of string and 9 pulleys...

We used to have a cheap one which was very loud and woke the kids and us up at night when used. Bought one of these on recommendation http://ebay.us/l3Le50?cmpnId=5338273189 and it's much quieter than our previous pull cord- not silent but significantly quieter than the standard ones. Would recommend it having had it for a couple months now!

Definitely not the Volex 9002 that I have in the bathroom next to my bedroom! Makes a noise like an old ironclad lever switch.
Keep meaning to change it.

Had this problem and used a round conduit box gasket between the body of the pull switch and ceiling. The customer was happy with the reduction in noise. Don't know if that is any use. Maybe the quietest one with a gasket???
