Discuss Silent or very quiet pull switch in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

The older roller MK type are quiet and feel good too , not sure if you can still get them though , but worth hunting down ,,

The pullswitch in our bathroom is right on the other side of the wall from where my little son sleeps, so once he's in bed we only use the mirror light above the sink. Every pullcord I've seen (and heard!) has been bloody noisy.

Not that it helps all that much, but I think the switch is quite quiet - until you screw it to a big lump of plasterboard which acts like a piano's soundboard .....

Clutching at straws, but did / do Ashley make a quiet (er) one?

I've a PIR fitted in mine - it's brilliant.
1) Kids can't leave the light on
2) No dirty hands from lazy kids (can you spot a recurring theme, here?)
3) Completely silent
4) No flipping string getting in the way
5) Bit of tech always impresses.

Reviews seem to say its quieter than others: British General 6A 2-Way Pull Cord Switch White - https://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/british-general-6a-2-way-pull-cord-switch-white/52330. Just ordered one through Amazon as I am still isolating, will report back when it arrives.

Had this problem and used a round conduit box gasket between the body of the pull switch and ceiling. The customer was happy with the reduction in noise. Don't know if that is any use. Maybe the quietest one with a gasket???
