Hi All,

I'm looking to make a small grid tie system for my home and not sure what panel/s to get. I'm looking at only less than 300watts at the moment purely as that will cover my house during the working day and during the night i'll turn the switch and power the house at night via a battery bank. I could buy one 300w panel or should i buy 3 100w panels?

thanks people.

That size of panel wont produce 300 watt, more like 240watts on a good day. Also if the panel is power say a fridge in the day the battery bank wont be charging. Might be worth going for a bigger system .

Hi Jason.

Ive got a pw5m charge controller which is able to charge and still give power to the grid tie.

Can an you recommend any places to buy solar panels?

Where are you located? One of the guys on here might have the odd leftover panel or two that they're looking to offload cheaply. You might also be able to buy the bits to get it connected up at the same time and some advice about how to do it correctly and safely. They might even do it for you and rig it up so that you can claim the feed-in tariff.
