single phase to 3 phase

Hi all,

I hav a requirement to convert a single phase supply into a 3 phase supply - the feed cable from the main dis board is 25mm SWA 3core and I require (strangly enough) 4core as a minimum to convert the board to 3 phase - the question is, would it be acceptable to run a new 2core cable for Neutral & Earth leaving the 3 existing cores as the 1/2/3 phase cores????????
The run is about 70 metres and to pull in a new 4 or 5 core cable will be a problem.

Any thoughts and guides on theis would be greatly appriciated.

I would say not, due the possibility of induced EMF. Obviously will have the seperate armour of each cable plus how they are glanded....in to a metal enclosure for instance.

Also the route of this additional cable would have to follow exactly the route of the existing one so I would suggest a new cable anyway.

Just to add, I have found recently that Wilts are very competitive for SWA prices.

70M of 5core 25mm would be £770 delivered from my local place!
