Hi all,

Quick question, can you use a 25mm cable from earth bar in C/U to Earth Rod in cellar directly below?

Reason I ask is I need the 3m tails to extend from incoming fuse, and they come with a 25mm earth cable included, so would this be easier than running a new 10mm earth cable to the rod which is accesible in cellar?

I know squeezing in a 25mm cable into the earth bar may be nigh on impossible (depending on C/U), and I'm not wanting to cut strands to make it fit.

Thanks for any advice.

completely pointless using 25mm earth to rod. you'll never terminate it . max. in CU earth bar is 16mm and that can be a pig.

As I thought to be honest, just a shame to buy the 3m tails and not use the earth! But sure it may come in handy some other time, thanks for your advice telectrix.

Only because the distance was a shade under 3m and the 2 phase tails are 5m! But more economical in the long run and makes job easier!!

don't understand. why are the phase tails 5m, when you only need 3m

Don't worry, I have it all sorted in my head which is the main thing, it will be 10mm to earth rod and 2 phase tails to incoming supply (under 3m. away from new c/u position). Thanks again for your help!

Only really need 4mm cable from the rod to the MET!! No harm i suppose in using a 10mm though... lol!!
he's allowing for rats to chew through 40% of the cable. that's what i call future proof
