If you do a board change and the installation only has 6mm2 earth cable to its gas and water is it a requirement of the regulations that you change it for 10mm2? Or can you recommend its upgrade but if its declined just leave it?

Help appreciated;)

Good question........ i believe if its TNS and you do the calculations its ok but TNC-S I'm sure you gotta upgrade.

well 130-07-01 (16th edition), is now 130.8.1 in the 17th, and that says that the earthing and bonding must be adequate, but 130.8.1 now also says 'if neccesary for the protective measure applied for safety', and assuming your using ADS for protection, then i would say yes.

Additionally, NOT upgrading the main protective bonding, would mean, for example, that you would have to use supplementary in the bathroom (should you need to work on any circuits in there)

to be honest, the regs doesnt specifically answer this question )in my opinion) but obviously, it would be better upgraded
