I'm looking at putting a heated floor in my 1mx1.3m downstairs toilet to help with the room temp.

The room has a radiator but the floor is always quite cold and I'm gutting the room in the next few weeks so wanna do something whilst it's all up.

I'm looking at something like this. Klima Underfloor Heating Mat Kit 1m² - http://www.screwflix..com/p/klima-underfloor-heating-mat-kit-1m/46051

Is that a decent kit?

How's installation? Do you just lay it down on the sub floor then backerbkard over it then tile? Or tile directly onto it?

How is the thermostat installed? Run wire behind skirting then behind plasterboard and then mount on the wall?

i used these for a similar job. insulating boards under, then tile over. IR and continuity test as soon as laid, then again when tiled. ambient supply 2 under floor probes, one of which is a back-up in case of failure. element cold leads and probe leads go as you say, up wall to stat., supplied by FCU.
Floor Heating Specialists | Buy Electric Under Floor Heating | Ambient Electrical - https://www.ambient-ufh.co.uk/

or buy one of these. far cheaper.

I'm guessing the floor is cold due to lack of insulation - why not rip and reinstate to current cosy building regs spec? That way you keep the right floor height and no running costs :)

It's a single brick wall, north facing and has a window. It's basically an old coal shed. I'm insulating the room and just thought I could add some underfloor heating to help with the cold coming up from the floor but yeh your right, I could just insulate the floor and it should stop cold coming up
