Hey

So I'll say I'm not a qualified sparky however I know how to wire up a replacement socket or a replacement dimmer (but I couldn't add a new one)

I'm looking at Lightwave products for smart sockets with energy monitoring. Are these any good good? Would I perhaps need anything in addition to the sockets (ie: some kind of dedicated hub?)

If I also get smart dimmer switches from them, would they necessarily work with smart light bulbs too? I do want something with energy monitoring. The TP Link stuff is quite a bit bulkier than Lightwave too

My goal is to make my house a smart home. I've got Philips Hue in the living room only because Iver got a Philips TV but putting that everywhere gets quite pricey quite quickly!

These Litewave, and LightwaveRF. Two different brands.

I’ve had LightwaveRF in my house for some time… and I believe the switches have been upgraded since.

The plug-in socket adaptors came in a box of 3 with a remote control, and this same remote can also be paired with the light switch.

If you want to use a phone to control them, then you also need the hub. Can be linked to Alexa .

I have the energy monitor… but in my case it doesn’t know the difference between usage and PV generation.

I was looking at these ones

I don't really care if they're not able to differentiate between regular and solar PV generation tbh, as the aim is to cut usage regardless of how that energy is produced

Also does something like this mean I don't need to bother with wiring? I ask because I've got no neutral for lighting, and want to make sure that any products I buy are either battery powered OR no neutral

Lightwave L21 Smart Dimmer, 1 Gang, Stainless Steel - Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, HomeKit. iOS & Android Compatible https://amzn.eu/d/j67oESG

I seem to be mistaken.... When i bought these it was LightwaveRF, but i see they have dropped the RF off the name.

Not sure of the newer switches... but the ones i have dont need a neutral, but do need filament lamps in the fitting to create a return path. Dont work with LED. (although there is ways around that) Maybe the generation 2 switches are better.

Damn. I guess at least the sockets are a sure fire thing even if the dimmers aren't? So far, I've only seen Philips Hue dimmer switches that work well, with... Philips Hue light bulbs (or friends of Hue), but that stuff is dead expensive :(
